  1. I understand their intentions are golden, but I don’t understand all these posts where people try to find an adopter for a pet they never met. Why scour the internet to find dogs that you think are the ones that should be saved? They are not going to talk anyone who does not want a dog into adopting one, best possible outcome is that they talk someone who is looking for a dog into choosing the one they found. This must be emotionally awful to look at all these doomed dogs and plead their cases during the countdown. The end result is the person thinking of adopting gets the one they found instead of another dog. The dog they would have adopted is probably going to be PTS. Thats an awful lot of time, energy and heartache considering they are not reducing the number of dogs PTS. They even have large crossposting groups where they show eachother pictures of doomed animals. I doubt anybody in the group is looking for a dog, they just torture eachother with pictures of the doomed animals. I like animals because they don’t do illogical things like this. I am not trolling, I would like to understand. WHY do you do this?

    • Lindsey,

If you were involved in the pet networking groups you would discover that:

      1. Due to pet networking that the deaths of pets in kill shelters have been reduced significantly.

      2. Volunteer networking supports the shelters to find homes for pets as well as educating the public that they should check out their local kill shelter before buying a pet.

      3. Volunteer networking groups actually work diligently to keep each other alerted about new pets entering the market, and provide transportation, rescues, fund raising and more.

      4. Volunteer networking also serves to educate the public about the reality of dumping their pets into a kill shelter versus the fantasy of the good home hope for a better life – so before they make that decision – they should know what is out there and make better choices.

      5. Volunteer networking may lead one to learn about troublesome aspects of our society, but we serve our community as a catalyst for change. Many networkers take in pets, nurture, care, and then find homes for them.

So, your negative perspective is based on unfounded speculation and is not based on the reality of what we do. However, I thank you for your comments because as both a Lawyer, and educator it is my role in society to bring the dark things in our community into the light – and through discussion – educate – and then – create positive actions that benefit one and all. These discussions have led and are leading communities to create: no kill shelters which are proactive solutions that are positive and do good for both community and animals. And I feel great about that…

      Take care, and good luck.
